Other Fluorinations

The Fluorine Lab is also used by the two young groups of Dr. Sebastian Riedel and Dr. Carsten Knapp. In this group the laboratory is mainly used to synthesize inorganic fluorides like AsF5 or KrF2. For this gaseous or condensed fluorine is used in Monel cylinders or special build apertures of PFA or glass.

The research interests of Dr. Riedel are:

  • High Oxidation States
  • Triple-Bond Radii
  • Quantum Chemistry
  • Fluorine Chemistry
  • Matrix Isolation

The research interests of Dr. Knapp are:  "Boron, Fluorine and More"

  • Halogenated dodecaborates
  • Reactive Cations
  • Fluorine chemistry
