Synthesis of an EtZn+-Ion

There have not been many attempts to synthesize a donor free EtZn+-Ion so far. So we tried to crystallize an EtZn[Al(ORF)4)] in different solvents and we get measurable crystals in 1,2-Difluorobenzene (Figure 1).

Structural characterization of a base-stabilized [Zn2]2+ dication

A base-stabilized  [Zn2]2+ dication was synthesized by the reaction of [Cp*2Zn2(dmap)2] (Cp*=C5Me5, dmap=4-Dimethylaminopyridin) with two equivalents of [H(OEt2)2][Al{OC(CF3)3}4] and structurally characterized for the first time  (shown below; red Zn, blue N, gray C; ZnZn: 2.419(1) Å).
